Back in October 2008, I wrote...
Love always protects…
Today’s dare is to get rid of addictions. I take this as a warning to avoid going crazy on Facebook. I loved this part in the movie “Fireproof” where Kirk Cameron’s character finally confronts his addiction and gets rid of the computer – replacing it on the table with a photo of his wife and a vase of flowers.
That was then, this is now...
(Love) always protects. 1 Corinthians 13:7
What a simple phrase today’s verse is. But these words are not only true, they are unbelievably powerful. We protect our loved ones in many ways. We protect the health of those we love by making sure they eat right, get rest and take care of themselves. We protect the reputations of our loved ones by not speaking badly about them to others. We protect each other physically with our bodies or emotionally be keeping our mouths shut when we want to spout ugly words. We protect each other spiritually by encouraging church attendance, Bible reading and prayer.
Father, what an awesome responsibility You’ve given us to protect each other. I am so thankful for Your example as Your protection of us is impeccable. I know that I cannot do this as well as You, but I want to live up to this verse of scripture. Not only do I want to protect my husband and my children, I want to protect You. Please don’t allow me to tarnish Your name with my behavior or my words. Help me to glorify You always. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
