Bible Study: Coming Out Of Bondage - Exodus - Chapter 11

Please forgive this rough draft format, as these are my raw study notes on the book of Exodus. I felt a great sense of urgency to publish them rather than waiting until I had the time to pretty them up. Thank you and I pray that God blesses you through this material. Stacey Take a few minutes to savor Exodus Chapters 11. Then return here and ponder the thoughts, answer the questions, and be sure to leave comments about your own revelations… 11:1-10 – plague #10 – plague of the firstborn. God defeats all false gods (of Egypt) including childbirth, healing and fertility gods. (Bes, Isis, Meshkenet, Menthu) What attributes of God have you observed in your study today? How will this change your relationship with Him?

REVIEW: Love Remains by Kaye Dacus

“Love Remains” is a fabulous new novel by Kaye Dacus - the first in her “Matchmakers” series. Dr. Zarah Mitchell has changed in the last 14 years, or so her former beau, Bobby Patterson believes. Reunited by their church and their best friend (and matchmaking) Grandmothers, Zarah and Bobby try their best to be civil and distant despite their lingering feelings for each other. As they clear up several misunderstandings that forced them apart years earlier, romance blooms again. But can their love survive Bobby’s criminal investigation of Zarah and her boss? Dacus’ writing sparkles with anticipation and wisdom. Her characters are multi-dimensional and likeable. Her plot is complex and well-woven with several sub-plot aspects that make this tale a real page-turner. She creates conflict that seems natural, not contrived. This book reads so quickly and leaves me with such a warm feeling that happy endings do exist, I cannot wait for the second in the series.

After all, they’re only words and what difference does a word make---really make after all? Then I kept on thinking. If they’re only words… But we as writers know the power of words, as do readers. When the wrong word is used, it jars, while the right word can be

Earlier that year the children's father had died. And their mother had not found work. The coal had run out and there was little money––none for gifts. Their scrawny

In the previous years, we had great big bountiful Christmases with our family. Gifts, goodies and general Christmas cheer but this year it was different. The year before has been chock full of disappointments, failing businesses and severe cutbacks for our family.  Sitting with my husband one night we hammered out the bare minimum that we could spend that year for C

Most children will say it’s all about the gifts. Adults, even if they secretly still enjoy the gifts, will probably strive to sound more mature and say the holiday is all about friends and family. Still others might say it’s about tradition, or memories or the music or even the special food we connect to this time of ye

For a little girl growing up in a single parent home, harried working mother, no church family, and TV dinners, these extended family holidays spent at my grandparents were like a real gift from God. The Topkapi Secret by Terry Kelhawk

Here is my review of this enjoyable novel: First of all, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Terry Kelhawk and her publisher for sending me a copy of "The Topkapi Secret" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me. “The Topkapi Secret: A Novel” by Terry Kelhawk is an intriguing read. At the time of the writing of this review, I haven’t yet finished the book, but the short chapters and the intense suspense have made for rapid page turning. Angela Hall, an American professor on a research trip in the middle east, crosses paths with Mohammed Atareek, a Koran researcher who wants to get his hands on the Topkapi Codex, a document that will presumably reveal long-hidden truths about the Koran. The exotic landscape sets the mood for this equally exotic romance. According to the public relations firm sponsoring this blog tour, there is an intimate lo

REVIEW: “Wrangler in Petticoats” by Mary Connealy

“Wrangler in Petticoats” by Mary Connealy, the second in her Sophie’s Daughter series, is a fun and romantic western adventure. Sally McClellan is on her way to visit her sister, Mandy, who is about to have a baby. Sally’s party is ambushed and she falls over a cliff while the rest of her traveling companions are gunned down. The murderous thieves are convinced that Sally is dead, but when they search at the bottom of the cliff, they are unable to find her body. Logan McKenzie is an artist who summers in the west as he paints scenery that is unavailable in his winter home of New York, where he sells his western landscapes. While sketching from a Cliffside, he encounters Sally as she plummets to certain death. Feeling responsible to save her life, he takes Sally to Wise Sister, the Indian woman who runs his household. But the thieves are on Sally’s trail, not wanting to leave a witness, and Luther and Buff are looking for Sally too, since she should have arrived at Mandy’s place
