Bible Study: Be Strong and Courageous - Joshua Chapter 2

Please forgive this rough draft format, as these are my raw study notes on the book of Joshua, although they are a bit better formatted than former efforts. I felt a great sense of urgency to publish them rather than waiting until I had the time to pretty them up. Thank you and I pray that God blesses and encourages you through this material. I’m not sure of the condition of the world at the time of this publication. But at the time of its writing, summer 2009, things are looking increasingly bleak with the economy and unemployment, there is a renewal and increase of racism, and godly principles of living being disregarded. The Truth Project - Lesson Two – Philosophy and Ethics: Says Who?

WOW! Week two was mind-blowing! First, let me remind you that the goal of “The Truth Project” is transformation and we can only be transformed in the presence of God. The Bible warns us to “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.” (Colossians 2:8) This is not a hollow warning. What does deceptive philosophy look like? Assumptive language is the powerful, deceptive use of words that seem to make a simple statement hoping that the hearer will buy that simple statement without recognizing the huge assumptions behind the simple statement. Oh, boy! Have I fallen for this more than once! We need discernment so that we don’t buy the lie, my brothers and sisters! One lie that many have bought is the concept of the “Cosmic Cube”.
