The scripture verse that touched me in particular today is – Deuteronomy 4:24
Lord, I learned in my devotional reading today that the word “jealousy” comes from the root word “zeal” which means “to burn with an intense fire”. This knowledge makes so many things I’ve contemplated much clearer and more understandable.
Our deeds being tested by fire makes sense. That fire is Your zeal for us. If we’ve done deeds for You, they will withstand the test. If we’ve performed these works for our own glory, they will be consumed by the fire that burns when we place other gods before You.
I’m glad that I understand this in light of marriage and “The Love Dare”. I’ve been miserable most of the day because of an argument that I had with my husband this morning. But now I realize that honoring him in our marriage isn’t condoning his stance or behavior. It’s really honoring You. Thank You for teaching me this today.
Love is not jealous…
After our argument today, I kept adding to my husband’s negative qualities list, so I was overjoyed that today’s dare included burning that list. Now if I could only think of a success to celebrate with him… Maybe one of the two job interviews I have this week will pan out.
