REVIEW: All's Fair in Love and Christmas by Sarah Monzon

First, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Sarah Monzon and her publisher for sending me a copy of "All’s Fair in Love and Christmas" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me. “All’s Fair in Love and Christmas” is such a beautiful book!   It’s loaded with ideas for how to celebrate Christmas as presented by the main characters, Mackenzie and Jeremy.   These two are colleagues who are competing with each other for a promotion to be given to the associate with the most Christmas spirit!   Each needs the pay raise that will come with the promotion, but there is a complication: Mackenzie has had a crush on Jeremy since he joined the staff two years ago, and she is shy and socially awkward.   Jeremy is competitive and wants the promotion, but as the Christmas spirit emerges in the office, he begins to see Mackenzie as he never has before. Review: Julia Monroe Begins Again by Rebekah Millet

First, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Rebekah Millet and her publisher for sending me a copy of "Julia Monroe Begins Again" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me. “Julia Monroe Begins Again” by Rebekah Millet is my absolute favorite Christian romance novel ever!  Such a wonderful debut novel by an author to watch!!  Rebekah Millet captures the reader immediately, like a gifted journalist.  This book reads like you’re sitting in a café with Julia Monroe herself telling her story over a warm drink and pastry.  I found myself staying up way past my bedtime, enjoying the almost musical writing.  There are intelligent and likeable characters, interesting situations, witty writing, and logical conflict.  I found myself rooting for Julia and Samuel, their families and friends.  I cannot wait for another book by Rebekah Millet.  And “Julia Monroe

REVIEW: Cold Case Christianity

Only God could take an atheist art major, make him a cop, then lead him to saving faith in Jesus Christ, with the intention of using his ‘particular set of skills’ to write and illustrate a book such as “Cold-Case Christianity”!   I love how God works!!!   I cannot even imagine what author and illustrator, J. Warner Wallace, thought about how his education in art, becoming a police officer, and putting his faith in Jesus would be used by God to serve Him!   This book answers that question beautifully! I’ve always wanted to be a detective, and I can deduce I’m not alone in that based on the success of “Cold-Case Christianity”.   I am grateful for the education I’ve received from reading “CCC” and watching “CCC” broadcasts.   These resources have helped me think more critically about my own faith, and have provided illustrations that I’ve used when sharing my faith with others. This armchair sleuth was completely captivated by the first edition of “CCC” ten years ago!   The pages of

Review: Countdown by Lynette Eason

First, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Lynette Eason and her publisher for sending me a copy of "Countdown" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me.   “Countdown”, the latest novel by Lynette Eason, and the 4 th (and final) offering in her Extreme Measures series, is a fast-paced, suspenseful, and entertaining read.   Flight paramedic Raina Price has been running from her past, watching her back for a long time.   US Marshall Vince Corelli has vowed to protect her at all costs.   These two travel the country as Raina’s past unravels and several attempts on her life are made. This is a suspenseful, engaging book that highlights the importance of God and His sovereignty.   It also showcases the importance of family and friendship.   I definitely consider the time spent reading “Countdown” as time well spent.

A Summer of Psalms - Psalm 6

Today, we’re looking at Psalm 6.  This highly emotional psalm expresses fear, anguish, exhaustion, sorrow, joy, and hope.  Ultimately, these verses are about Deliverance .  David asks for mercy and the Lord accepts his prayer.   When we walk away from our time together today, I want you to know God hears and responds to the prayers of His children.   Holy Father, teach us something new today.   Open our eyes to see Your righteous character.   Teach us to be like Jesus.   It’s in His name I ask this. Amen.   Our text is divided into two parts, today: 1. Lord, do not rebuke me; have mercy (Psalm 6:1-7) 2. The Lord has heard my cry (Psalm 6:8-10)   Let’s dive right in to this amazing psalm.   Read Psalm 6:1-7 .   This is a song written by David.   It would be accompanied by stringed instruments.   Sheminith refers to the lowest note sung by men’s voices, so I hear this as a deep, gutteral plea.   And the words corroborate this.    David is asking the Lord not t

A Summer of Psalms - Psalm 137

Have you ever wished harm on someone?  Have you ever wanted to see someone “get their come-uppance”?  Have you noticed that you desire mercy for yourself and justice for your “enemies”?   Today, we’re looking at Psalm 137.   These 9 verses are about Torment and Vengeance .   In this psalm, we see Israel wept, and was happy over Babylon’s doom.   When we walk away from our time together today, I want you to know Vengeance belongs to the Lord, regardless of our torment.   Father-God, we pray in Jesus’ name that You will speak to us through this psalm today.   Help us to see that You are always worthy of praise.   But that You also have very big shoulders and can handle our complaints. Amen.   Our text is divided into two parts, today: 1.By the rivers of Babylon, we sat and wept (Psalm 137:1-6) 2.Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction (Psalm 137:7-9)   Let’s get right into this teaching.   Read Psalm 137:1-6 .   As Psalm 137 opens, Israel is reminiscing ov
