Back in October 2008... The scripture verse that touched me in particular today is –
The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight. Proverbs 4:7
I want to understand my husband, Lord. By learning about him and gaining understanding like Your Word says, I can minister to him better. And I do want to minister to him well, Lord.
Love seeks to understand…
That was then, this is now...
How blessed is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding. Proverbs 3:13
The attempt to understand your mate shows love. That is a tremendous blessing whether you are on the giving or receiving end of the understanding. But I believe that love doesn’t just seek to understand. Love also seeks to be understood. Love doesn’t play head games. Love doesn’t posture itself so the other person is always in the wrong. Love is honest, so your potential mate gets to know the real you.
You never stop getting to know the person to whom you’re married. We change constantly, so we need to constantly spend time with each other getting to know how our goals and dreams have been altered by our life experiences. We need to study each other every day.
Father, give me the desire and the patience to spend time just getting to know my husband. I know we don’t have time every day to spend doing this, but ignite in each of us a fire that is consumed with knowing each other and being known to each other. In Christ’s mighty and majestic name, I ask this. Amen.
