The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him. Nahum 1:7
04/27/09 The name used for God in this verse, the Lord, is Yehovah in Hebrew. This is significant because it is the covenant name of God. When this name is used, a promise is attached. The promise is based on God’s character. The promise WILL NOT be broken! This verse promises that God is good and that He is a refuge for us. When times of trouble come – and they will – we need to run immediately to the Lord, our refuge! By running to Him, we express our trust in Him to protect us, to defend us, to shelter us. And the Lord expresses His care for us by offering that shield, that protection, that defense, that shelter. So, when troubles come, run to Him. In fact, why wait? Run to Him right now even if there is no trouble on your horizon. You’ll be closer to Him when difficulties come, and you won’t have so far to run to reach Him.
