He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
06/17/09 Whenever I hear the word “good”, especially when it pertains to spiritual things, I am reminded of a Biblical encounter in which Jesus responds to being called good teacher by asking, “Why do you call me good?” He goes on to explain that nothing is good but God. Ever since I read that passage of scripture, I have mentally substituted the word God for the word good. With regard to this verse which says “He who began a good work in you…”, I read it as “He who began a God work in you…” He is the only One who can begin a God work in us. And He is the only One who can complete a God work. All of God’s works are good. Aren’t they? They may be painful or a struggle at the time, but they always work for His glory and our benefit. That is what I call a good work.
