Please forgive this rough draft format, as these are my raw study notes on the book of Genesis. I felt a great sense of urgency to publish them rather than waiting until I had the time to pretty them up. Thank you and I pray that God blesses you through this material.

Take a few minutes to savor Genesis Chapter 15. Then return here and ponder the thoughts, answer the questions, and be sure to leave comments about your own revelations…
15:1 – God shields us from doubt, disappointment, guilt, shame, and any other attacks by the enemy.
15:6 – Abram was filled with doubt, yet he believed the Lord! (Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible – Higgs)
15:7 – God identifies Himself as The Lord – Yahweh, “derived from the verb ‘to be’.” (Explore the Bible Adult Commentary, Spring 2008, Genesis 28-50) This is the Great “I AM.” He also called Himself by this name in 28:13. This is the covenant name of God.
15:9-21 – Royal Grant Covenant (unconditional – a King’s grant)
15:18 – “made” – karath – cut. (A Woman’s Heart: God’s Dwelling Place – Moore)
“covenant” – beriyth – a compact, treaty or alliance made by passing through pieces of flesh or the divided parts of a victim. (A Woman’s Heart: God’s Dwelling Place – Moore) See Jeremiah 34:18 to see how a violator of covenant would be treated.
What attributes of God have you observed in your study today? How will this change your relationship with Him?

In other words He identifies Himself in terms personal to Abraham alone....
