“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
05/15/09 Jesus told the disciples not to let their hearts be troubled. Easier said than done, it seems. Their world imploded because of Jesus’ crucifixion, breaking their hearts. They probably imagined they were next to die on the hill if they opened their mouths. The revolution they thought would change the world was over before it really began. Then Jesus came back! Their spirits soared! They were back on track with Christ in the lead. Then, instead of announcing their next move, Jesus tells them that He is leaving. Of course this news disturbed and agitated them, causing their peace to flee. But Jesus announced the restoration of their peace at the same time that He gave them the seemingly “bad” news of His departure. He never gives us an instruction without empowering us to complete the task! Hallelujah!
