Guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23
06/17/09 Our human minds are so finite. When we think of life, the first thing that comes to our minds is probably the number of years we will occupy this planet from the moment we’re born until the time we take our last breath. We think of how long we will breathe and work and love in these tents of flesh we now inhabit. But when I see the phrase “wellspring of life,” I think of what is to come when our current existence is done. I think of living water and spiritual things and how we serve God in this life so that we may honor Him in the next. This verse says that the heart is a wellspring of life which tells me that, if we guard it as we are warned to do, it will fulfill its function. But if we don’t guard it and allow poison to get into our wellspring, we are capable of spreading death. Which are you doing? Be honest.
