Please forgive this rough draft format, as these are my raw study notes on the book of Genesis. I felt a great sense of urgency to publish them rather than waiting until I had the time to pretty them up. Thank you and I pray that God blesses you through this material.

Take a few minutes to savor Genesis Chapter 14. Then return here and ponder the thoughts, answer the questions, and be sure to leave comments about your own revelations…
14:9 – God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth – El Elyon.
14:12 – 2 Peter 2:7 declares Lot was “righteous”. So why was he living near Sodom?
14:13 – Abram was known in the land. That’s why he was told when Lot was taken.
14:14 – 318 trained men – speaks of Abram’s wealth. He has a small army.
14:18 – Melchizedek is the king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He knew God! Abram wasn’t the only believer. Also, Melchizedek foreshadows Christ who is also Priest and King!
symbols of the Lord’s supper (bread and wine).
14:18-20 – God used Melchizedek to confirm Abram’s obedience, just as he used Pharaoh in 12:17-20 to confirm Abram’s disobedience.
El Elyon – The Most High.
14:19-20 – Prayer of blessing for Abram by Melchizedek.
14:21 – give me the people – the king of Sodom was asking Abram to return to him the people he abandoned (in v. 10) and Abram rescued.
What attributes of God have you observed in your study today? How will this change your relationship with Him?
