Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
06/18/09 The Lord tells us to be courageous. The word “courage” brings so many visual images to my mind. First, the Cowardly Lion from “The Wizard of Oz” shaking uncontrollably and hiding behind a petite farm girl. Second, the American soldier in so many poses: a young Marine in dress blues holding out a precisely folded flag to my Grandmother at Granddaddy’s funeral; a boy praying in a foxhole waiting for the bullets to begin flying; the meanest drill sergeant you will even know molding you into a capable warrior. Third, a man or a woman sitting with head bowed and Bible open, poring over scripture and applying it to their life. This Christian soldier does daily battle of spiritual warfare with a very real enemy. Do you exercise with your weapons (prayer and the Bible) daily in preparation for warfare?
