“Everything is possible for him who believes.” Mark 9:23

05/14/09 Let’s take a step back. Mark 9:16 opens this encounter between Jesus and the father of a demon-possessed boy. Jesus asked the crowd what they were discussing and the father responded that he brought his son to see Jesus because the boy was possessed with a spirit that made him mute. Isn’t this awesome? Jesus already knew the answer to the question. He already knew who in the crowd would respond. He knew who was having an issue with their faith. And He wanted to help. He wanted to heal both father and son and give the crowd something to think about. Isn’t He just wonderful? He looks for opportunities to save us. He wants to interact with us – individually, personally. How is He trying to interact with you, today?

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics . By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons. I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations. The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying. BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures. I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended. I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process! So keep practicing. Keep sharing and discussing.
