05/08/09 The condition of our hearts is of supreme importance to God. When we pray to ask Jesus to come into our hearts and save our souls, we are doing more than just asking Him to prepare a place for us in heaven. We are entering into a formal binding agreement with Him. It is called a covenant relationship. We enter into this covenant with Him through the broken body of His Son, Jesus, and it is not something to be taken lightly. We make Jesus the Lord of our life, and He gives us eternal life, a new heart and His Holy Spirit to live inside of us. And we bear some responsibility in caring for that heart. We must expose it to the Bible and to prayer to nourish it with His Word, keeping it morally, ethically and spiritually pure and clean. Then that heart will grow to look more like the heart of Christ and we will grow in Christian character. Praise the Lord.

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics . By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons. I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations. The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying. BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures. I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended. I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process! So keep practicing. Keep sharing and discussing. Armor of God – Week One – Sizing Up The Enemy

Welcome to Boot Camp! For the next seven weeks we will be training with our weapons (God’s Word and prayer) in preparation for the battle of our lives and the lives of others! And we will be learning how to equip ourselves with the Armor of God. Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God Bible study is a MUST-DO for EVERY BIBLE STUDENT! I don’t mean to shout, but I can’t emphasize this enough!!! We are at war boys and girls. And our enemy wants to keep us in the dark about that fact. If he can convince us that he does not exist or that our God is not good or that we are not loved and treasured by the King and Creator of the Universe, he wins the battle.
