First, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Tara Randel and her publisher for sending me a copy of "Rival Hearts" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me.
“Rival Hearts” by Tara Randel is such a fun read!  This highly entertaining story pits rival magazine editors against each other in a challenge to see who should receive the editor position offered on a brand new periodical being developed by their boss.  So, Molly the quilter will have to step out of her element to experience the great outdoors on a kayak adventure.  And Ben, the extreme sportsman, will be joining a quilting bee.  May the best man – or woman – win.

I don’t know which of these characters captivated and amused me more.  Both story lines were humorous and touching at the same time.  Tara Randel has proven herself to be a sensitive and witty writer who creates velvety-smooth prose.  This story is sensitive and sporty, encouraging and invigorating.  I loved it!

The Book of Revelation by Chuck Missler – Hour 21 – Revelation 17-18

Two chapters on Mystery, Babylon.   She is the great whore.   She rides the beast.   She is the mother of harlots.   She is clothed in purple, scarlet and gold.   She reigns over kings of the earth.   She is caressed by the world.   She is sustained by the dragon (Satan). Chuck reminds us that the church of Thyatira is promised to go through the tribulation.   This is how.   If you recall the earlier lessons, the church of Thyatira was called the Medieval Church. Mystery, Babylon isn’t the beast, but she rides the beast.   There are ten clues in chapter 17 regarding her identity:   she’s a prostitute; she has universal influence all over the world; she is seated upon the beast; she is expensively adorned and outwardly attractive; she’s a utensil in God’s service but a counterfeit; she’s a mystery linked with the Babylon of Nimrod; she’s the mother of prostitutes who has spiritual offspring; she’s a persecutor of Christians...

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a...

Armor of God – Week One – Sizing Up The Enemy

Welcome to Boot Camp!   For the next seven weeks we will be training with our weapons (God’s Word and prayer) in preparation for the battle of our lives and the lives of others!   And we will be learning how to equip ourselves with the Armor of God. Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God Bible study is a MUST-DO for EVERY BIBLE STUDENT!   I don’t mean to shout, but I can’t emphasize this enough!!!   We are at war boys and girls.   And our enemy wants to keep us in the dark about that fact.   If he can convince us that he does not exist or that our God is not good or that we are not loved and treasured by the King and Creator of the Universe, he wins the battle.   But can I share something with you?   OUR ENEMY HAS ALREADY LOST THE WAR!!!!!   His time is short and he is grasping at anything we leave dangling in an attempt to drag us down.   So let’s not leave too much dangling. My church begins the Armor of God study tonight (9/9/15). ...
