Day Thirty-Six – The Love Dare: One Wife’s Journey

Back in October 2008...The scripture verse that touched me in particular today is -

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105

Love is God’s Word…

Thank You for Your Word, Lord. I truly love it! You’ve taught me so much through it. And I look forward to You continuing to teach me through it until the moment we meet face-to-face. In Christ’s most wonderful name. Amen.

That was then, this is now…

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105

God’s Word is love. It guides us through every aspect of life, including marriage. The Bible is one of the main ways God speaks to us. Treasure His Word.

This is the first verse of scripture I ever memorized, and it has become one of the foundational truths of my life. Spending time with the Lord is the most amazing thing you will ever do. I spend time with Him every day in prayer, reading, studying and meditating on the Bible, singing, admiring Him through nature. He speaks in many ways, but most clearly through His Word. At times, even what He says through His Word seems unclear, but as I draw nearer to Him, His Word becomes more concise.

Papa, I adore Your Word. I mean that in many ways since the Bible says that Jesus is the Word made flesh. I am always amazed that I can get to know Him (and You) better at any time in any place simply by opening this book and absorbing what it says – what You say. Thank You for giving me the Bible. Thank You for giving it to mankind. If it is Your will, please use me to make others love Your Word more than I do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a...
