My Identity in Christ #3 - The Holy Spirit lives in me

Now that my Bible Study group has finished Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God study, I need to keep moving in the right direction and I’m not ready to pick up another Bible study because I haven’t applied all I want to apply to my life from this study, yet.  Also, my prayer request lately has been that I would live like I believe God’s promises and how much He loves me.  So, I am beginning a series of blog posts taken from the list Priscilla included in her 6th week of Bible study regarding our identity and inheritance in Christ.  I pray these reflections will open your eyes to how much God loves you.  Read them as if you wrote them.  Meditate on them.  God bless you.

The Holy Spirit Lives in Me - My Identity in Christ

According to 1 Corinthians 3:16, the Holy Spirit has taken up residence in me.  I remember vividly when I learned this.  I had been a believer in Christ for around 15 years.  Looking back, I find it scary that we can live that long with this power inside us and not realize it.  The women’s ministry of the church I was attending announced that they would be doing the Bible study “Living Beyond Yourself” by Beth Moore.  I couldn’t attend the study because it conflicted with my work schedule, but I bought the workbook.  That Bible study taught me about the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Christian.  It changed my life and empowered me to minister.  It gave me a sense of expectation where God was concerned.  Hallelujah!

Since the Holy Spirit lives in me, the power of God to raise the dead lives in me.  Great creativity dwells within me!  The author of Scripture is inside me to teach me what Scripture means and to help me memorize the Word!  And He will remind me of everything I’ve learned about God.  This gives me confidence to witness to others because He will bring the words to my mind when I need them.  When I need comfort or counsel, it comes from the inside-out.  He brings me peace that surpasses all understanding.  When I accepted Christ and the Holy Spirit entered me, He locked the door behind Him and sealed it up tight so the enemy can’t get in.  He helps me to pray and groans for me in prayer when I have no words.  He gives me wisdom and discernment.  Every ability or discipline or character trait I could ever want or hope to develop is already in me because of Him.  I only need to tap into the Source!  I can see evidence of His work in my life when I observe the fruit He produces through me: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control.  The Holy Spirit makes my ears to hear, my eyes to see and my mouth to speak.  He makes my heart to seek and my hands to reach out and touch the world with the love of God!

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
