The Revelation from Jesus to John on the Island of Patmos

There are blessings for those who encounter Christ in His Word.
Jesus is coming back for us with the clouds.
Jesus’ people will share in His suffering.
2
10-20
John writes to seven churches beginning with a vision of Jesus
Principle:
Jesus desires His people to see Him.
Jesus doesn’t want us to be afraid.

Subject Sentence (10-word sentence with proper structure):

Jesus’ revelation to John on Patmos begins with a vision.

Aim (Christian and Non-Christian):

TCMATK Jesus is revealed in His Word and wants His people to receive His instruction.

Application:

1
Why do we have the Revelation of Jesus Christ?
How might you be blessed to read aloud or hear the words of this prophecy?
How does Jesus describe Himself in 1:4-5, 8?  Which description is most meaningful to you?  Why?
In what way are you a kingdom and a priest serving God the Father?
How have you been persecuted for the name of Jesus Christ?
How might you prepare other Christians to endure persecution?
2
How does being “in the Spirit” affect your encounters with God?
Describe Jesus as John saw Him at the revelation.  What strikes you most deeply about His appearance?
What is your reaction when you encounter Christ?
How does Jesus describe Himself in 1:17-18?
How do these descriptions deepen your love and devotion to Him?
What does it mean to you that the Bible constantly reminds us not to be afraid?

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
