REVIEW: Cold Case Christianity

Only God could take an atheist art major, make him a cop, then lead him to saving faith in Jesus Christ, with the intention of using his ‘particular set of skills’ to write and illustrate a book such as “Cold-Case Christianity”!  I love how God works!!!  I cannot even imagine what author and illustrator, J. Warner Wallace, thought about how his education in art, becoming a police officer, and putting his faith in Jesus would be used by God to serve Him!  This book answers that question beautifully!

I’ve always wanted to be a detective, and I can deduce I’m not alone in that based on the success of “Cold-Case Christianity”.  I am grateful for the education I’ve received from reading “CCC” and watching “CCC” broadcasts.  These resources have helped me think more critically about my own faith, and have provided illustrations that I’ve used when sharing my faith with others.

This armchair sleuth was completely captivated by the first edition of “CCC” ten years ago!  The pages of that book are well-worn.  The second edition is a bit thicker, and according to the back cover, contains 300 new illustrations/graphics.  Right away I found the QR Code to access 15 pages of case notes!  And I was listening to the first edition audiobook while reading the second edition, which led me to discover how much cleaner the wording is in the new book.  A brilliant book before, now it is more polished and loaded with extras that are helping me to comprehend ideas I failed to grasp in my previous reads of the first edition.

I highly recommend this book to “CCC” newbies and first edition veterans.  Such a wonderful book!  I look forward to completely wearing out this new addition to my library.

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
