A Question for those who read my Homiletics posts:

Why?  Why are you reading my homiletics?  Are you in BSF?  Are you studying in seminary?  Are you comparing your own homiletics to mine?  I'm really just curious.  I did think about not posting homiletics anymore because if anyone is just copying my homiletics for an assignment, they'd be missing out on meeting with God for themselves and I would hate to be a part of someone missing out on meeting with God.

So, let me know.  Why do you read my homiletics?

Hi, just saw your question here.
I am a new leader in BSF for just more than a year now. I find it really difficult to right up application questions and hey only have training about writing up application questions towards the end of the study. So i don't wanna miss out on the chance of practicing and learning for each week's homiletics.

Thank you~
I am doing homiletics on sermon on the Mount. Oof! that's so hard, I am basically stuck in division and subject sentence. LOL But I am still learning a lot. Thank you for your blogs!

Hi lwykristy@gmail.com,

When we train at BSF leaders' meetings I love everyone else's Application Questions! They're challenging. I've started writing down notes and questions that come to me when I read the Scriptures for the first time. Then I use those notes and questions when I write my applications. It seems my biggest challenge with applications is making it about heart change and thinking rather than behavior modification. Eventually, the behavior will follow the changes in heart and thinking, but the goal is the heart and mind. Though, sometimes I think you can start the behavior and it can influence your heart and mind.

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a...

Armor of God – Week One – Sizing Up The Enemy

Welcome to Boot Camp!   For the next seven weeks we will be training with our weapons (God’s Word and prayer) in preparation for the battle of our lives and the lives of others!   And we will be learning how to equip ourselves with the Armor of God. Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God Bible study is a MUST-DO for EVERY BIBLE STUDENT!   I don’t mean to shout, but I can’t emphasize this enough!!!   We are at war boys and girls.   And our enemy wants to keep us in the dark about that fact.   If he can convince us that he does not exist or that our God is not good or that we are not loved and treasured by the King and Creator of the Universe, he wins the battle.   But can I share something with you?   OUR ENEMY HAS ALREADY LOST THE WAR!!!!!   His time is short and he is grasping at anything we leave dangling in an attempt to drag us down.   So let’s not leave too much dangling. My church begins the Armor of God study tonight (9/9/15). ...
