Thyatira: The Church
Who Tolerated Jezebel
The title for this week’s study just goes to show you that
the name can be pretty but the entity itself can be ugly to the bone! It’s all about influence. I was fascinated to learn that Lydia, the
believer from Thyatira who dealt in purple cloth was believed to be influential
in birthing the church.
Sadly, someone who called herself a prophetess – who Jesus
called Jezebel – corrupted the people.
By her teachings, she led the people astray and they succumbed to the
temptation to eat food sacrificed to idol and engage in sexually immoral
practices.
This week’s video teaching was fascinating. Sue talks about how boys and girls fight
differently. Boys fight physically and
girls fight with words. Boys fight 20 times
more often than girls do. Fights tend to
be a bonding experience for boys, making them better friends. Fights destroy girls’ relationships. I want to be more direct and more Biblical in
my dealings with others.
What sort of influence are you going to be this week?
