Here is my review of this incredible book:
First of all, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Matt Mikalatos and his publisher for sending me a copy of "Imaginary Jesus" to review for them. I have always been grateful for this generosity, but haven’t been very consistent in taking the time to thank them in a public forum. I really appreciate your time, effort and expense in making a reviewer copy available to me.
When author Mike Mikalatos has lunch in a trendy Portland café with a robe and sandal-wearing Jesus, an extraordinary adventure begins. When a second man approaches Mike after Jesus leaves the table, he confronts Mike with the idea that the man he is dining with isn’t really who Mike thinks he is. Chapter one ends with a more physical confrontation, a surprising revelation regarding the identity of the second man, and the chase for Jesus is on!
What WOULD Jesus wear if He showed up on the streets of your town tonight? How would He act? What does He REALLY desire for our lives? Part truth, part strange fiction, “Imaginary Jesus” by Mike Mikalatos is one of the most clever books I’ve ever read. It is about how to follow Christ which is very self-help/non-fiction oriented. But it is presented in such a way that the book itself is a work of fiction. This is absolutely brilliant and thought-provoking creative writing!
