Please forgive this rough draft format, as these are my raw study notes on the book of Genesis. I felt a great sense of urgency to publish them rather than waiting until I had the time to pretty them up. Thank you and I pray that God blesses you through this material.

Take a few minutes to savor Genesis Chapter 34. Then return here and ponder the thoughts, answer the questions, and be sure to leave comments about your own revelations…
34:2-4 – Shechem rapes Jacob’s daughter, Dinah. But he winds up loving her, so he asks his father to get her for his wife.
34:5 – From whom did Jacob hear the news? Why did Jacob keep quiet until his sons came home? Did he mean to keep the news from his wives?
34:13 – Jacob’s sons had also learned to deceive. What generational sins do I need to quash?
34:23 – Shechem and Hamor had ulterior motives for marrying into Jacob’s family and convincing the town to become circumcised. Who performed that surgery?
34:25 – 3 days later, Simeon and Levi murdered every man in town while they were recovering from the surgery. Was their justification that circumcision was a mark of the Abrahamic covenant and they didn’t want the Shechemites counted among God’s people?
34:30 – Jacob reprimands Simeon and Levi for taking vengeance into their own hands.
What attributes of God have you observed in your study today? How will this change your relationship with Him?
