Divisions (run-on sentence OK, direct verbiage from Scripture/Principles are Aims for each Division – a truth about God, a truth about man, a truth about God’s relationship to man; a sin to avoid, promise to trust, example to follow, command to obey, truth to believe):

1.Evil King Ahab and good King Jehoshaphat of Judah battle Aram together and die (1 Ki 22:1-53)

Principle:  God is not fooled by our disguises.

Principle:  People cannot hide from God’s will.

2.King Ahaziah of Israel dies (2 Kings 1:1-18)

Principle:  Worshiping a false God is not worth the cost.

Principle:  God communicates with those who seek Him.

Subject Sentence (10-word sentence with proper structure showing exactly where you are in Scripture):

Ahab and Azariah of Israel die; Jehoshaphat of Judah dies.

Aim (“To Cause My Audience To…” Know, See, Learn, Understand, etc.):

TCMATK Living for anything but God is not living.

Application (not yes or no question.  Meant to bring about heart change):

1.What disguises do you need to put aside to embrace God’s plan for your life?

What are you seeking the Lord about right now?  What should you be seeking Him about?

2.What will be written about your life (especially your walk with God) when you die?

When are you tempted to go to others before going to God?  Why?

The Big Idea (author’s main purpose in writing; the one thing all the other things in the passage is about; if you couldn’t talk about it, you would still understand the passage is trying to convey this):

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
