Matthew 28 Homiletics

Divisions:

1.An angel frightened the tomb guards and he and Jesus told Mary and Mary to tell the disciples to go to Galilee (Matt 28:1-10)

Principle:  Christ rose – He did not stay in the tomb!

2.Some of the guards reported what happened, and the chief priests and elders paid the soldiers to say the disciples stole the body (Matt 28:11-15)

Principle:  People opposed to Jesus devise plans against Him and His people.

3.The disciples went to Galilee and saw Jesus, Who told them to make disciples (Matt 28:16-20)

Principle:  Jesus’ disciples are to make disciples.

Subject Sentence (10-word sentence with proper structure showing exactly where you are in Scripture):

Jesus rose; priests devised a plan; disciples went to Galilee.

Aim (“To Cause My Audience To…” Know, See, Learn, Understand, etc.):

TCMATK Jesus is the risen Savior Who calls His followers to make disciples (in spite of opposition)

Application (not yes or no question.  Meant to bring about heart change):

1.Where do you need to experience the power of the risen Savior?  What paralyzes you with fear, and how will you turn that fear over to the power of Jesus?  Who do you need to tell about the risen Lord?

2.What opposition are you facing and how are you planning to face it?

3.What part of the Great Commission do you struggle to obey?  How can you prepare to face that struggle with the help of God and others?  Which aspects of the Great Commission excite you, and how will you spread your excitement to involve others?

The Big Idea:

discipleship

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
