Good Girls Don't Have to Dress Bad by Shari Braendel

In Good Girls Don’t Have to Dress Bad, Shari Braendel teaches you how to appreciate the body God gave you and how to always look your best-from conquering the battle of finding the right swimsuit, to choosing how many bangles you should wear or how big your purse should be, to wearing the right style jeans that will best flatter your thighs or hips, to finding the best places to shop to suit your unique personal style.

Many of us are watching reality TV shows to get a clue on how to dress right and look good. We hungrily purchase fashion magazines any time the cover article has something to do with how we can hide our despised body parts. We make mad dashes to the local department store to pick up the new anti-wrinkle cream Oprah promised will take ten years away from our face.

We care about how we look. Why is that? Because we’re women, and women love to look and feel good. God made us that way. And this is not a bad thing. In fact, it’s a wonderful thing. God loves beauty. He doesn’t want us to reflect his image being sloppy, disheveled women of God who don’t pay any attention to what we look like.

Good Girls Don’t Have to Dress Bad will show you how to look and feel your best, no matter what day it is or what the occasion. And it will also stop you from screaming at the top of your lungs, “I have nothing to wear.”

Here's my review of this excellent resource:

First of all, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Shari Braendel and her publisher for sending me a copy of "Good Girls Don't Have To Dress Bad" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me.

”Good Girls Don’t Have To Dress Bad: A Style Guide For Every Woman” is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. Shari Braendel has combined every magazine style quiz you’ve ever taken and put in one place to give you the most comprehensive book on how you should assemble your “look”. I originally requested this book because I was looking for help to reinvent myself in the face of upcoming breast cancer surgery. What I received was a blast of a weekend with my family as we measured each other’s faces and bodies and talked about what colors look best on each other.

My 16 year old daughter and I enjoyed reading the commentary and taking quizzes and discovering what our best bathing suit look is. This book led to good conversation and great fun that even my husband was able to participate in (as he measured my face and laughed at my conversation with our daughter). This is an absolutely fabulous book that no female should be without. I will use it as a reference often. I also recommend Shari’s website for additional information and a color analysis.

"We make mad dashes to the local department store to pick up the new anti-wrinkle cream Oprah promised will take ten years away from our face." I really have to let my Facebook group know about that! There's a really animated debate that I thought would be of interest on evolution vs. intelligent design going on at http://www.intelligentdesignfacts.com

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a...
