Today's Daily Devotional

Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens. Praise Him for His acts of power; praise Him for His surpassing greatness. Psalm 150:1-2

04/07/09 This is the day that the Lord has made! Praise Him for it! No, it doesn’t matter what day it is. He made them all! Hallelujah! Sing a song of praise to our Father. Choose your favorite Psalm and read it to Him like a prayer. Write Him a song or a poem. Spend an extended time with Him in prayer. Meditate on and memorize a scripture passage. Run to Him when you’re happy. Run to Him when you’re sad. THAT is how you praise! Lie on your back in the grass like you did as a child during the lazy days of summer and see the King of the Universe on His throne. Look at the trees, flowers, mountains, oceans and recognize the power and might of the One who created all of these things. Tell Him how beautiful He is, how awesome He is. THAT is how you praise!

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics . By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons. I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations. The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying. BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures. I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended. I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process! So keep practicing. Keep sharing and discussing. Armor of God – Week One – Sizing Up The Enemy

Welcome to Boot Camp! For the next seven weeks we will be training with our weapons (God’s Word and prayer) in preparation for the battle of our lives and the lives of others! And we will be learning how to equip ourselves with the Armor of God. Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God Bible study is a MUST-DO for EVERY BIBLE STUDENT! I don’t mean to shout, but I can’t emphasize this enough!!! We are at war boys and girls. And our enemy wants to keep us in the dark about that fact. If he can convince us that he does not exist or that our God is not good or that we are not loved and treasured by the King and Creator of the Universe, he wins the battle.
