My First TransSiberian Orchestra Concert

What a wonderful experience! Their music is amazing! Their showmanship, unmatched! As a native New Yorker, the Christmas season begins with Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and was marked at some point by The Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. But I have been transplanted in the west for a very long time now. Many traditions have been lost solely by proximity.

I have heard others rave about the TSO show in Las Vegas for years, but have never attended. I have loved their music for as long as I can remember, and have watched their Christmas special on PBS for several years, now.

But since I've seen them live, I cannot go back. I now have my new Christmas tradition. Count on seeing me with tickets in hand, waiting to get in the door whenever they are in town!

There was no bad seat for this show inside the Orleans Arena. But we had the BEST seats - 2nd tier, straight across the arena from the stage! A bit far away, but you saw everything without having to turn your head.

And the show was a true spectacular! We got so much more than our money's worth! These men and women played music for over two hours!!! WOW! I am completely blown away! I hope they make a stop in Vegas for their Spring "Night Castle" Tour.

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a...

Armor of God – Week One – Sizing Up The Enemy

Welcome to Boot Camp!   For the next seven weeks we will be training with our weapons (God’s Word and prayer) in preparation for the battle of our lives and the lives of others!   And we will be learning how to equip ourselves with the Armor of God. Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God Bible study is a MUST-DO for EVERY BIBLE STUDENT!   I don’t mean to shout, but I can’t emphasize this enough!!!   We are at war boys and girls.   And our enemy wants to keep us in the dark about that fact.   If he can convince us that he does not exist or that our God is not good or that we are not loved and treasured by the King and Creator of the Universe, he wins the battle.   But can I share something with you?   OUR ENEMY HAS ALREADY LOST THE WAR!!!!!   His time is short and he is grasping at anything we leave dangling in an attempt to drag us down.   So let’s not leave too much dangling. My church begins the Armor of God study tonight (9/9/15). ...

Armor of God – Week Five – The Shield of Faith

I must admit that this listening sheet has notes written in every corner and margin.   I was starving for a lesson of faith, apparently.   This is some of what I learned from Video #5: ·          Faith is acting like God is telling the truth. ·          Active faith is a shield. ·          Faith is not foolishness.   It may look like it to the world, though. ·          Whatever God has called me to, He will carry me through. ·          God’s call will sound irrational because His thoughts are not ours. ·          When the dots don’t connect, but we do His bidding anyway, that’s faith! ·          God is sustaining universes not yet discovered! ·     ...
