Divisions (run-on sentence OK, direct verbiage from Scripture/Principles are Aims for each Division):

1.David’s return to Jerusalem, death of a troublemaker, famine because of Saul and fighting the Philistines. (2 Sam 19-21)

Principle:  God places people in our lives to teach, encourage, humble, lead and transform us and them.

2.David’s song of praise, last words and mighty men. (2 Samuel 22-23)

Principle:  God reveals His character to us and through us to lead us and others to praise.

3.David’s census, his choice of punishment (plague) and sacrifices at the threshing floor of Araunah. (2 Samuel 24)

Principle:  God instructs and disciplines us, leading us to confess, repent and experience answered prayer.

Subject Sentence (10-word sentence with proper structure showing exactly where you are in Scripture):

David returns to Jerusalem, praises, writes last words and sacrifices.

Aim (“To Cause My Audience To…” Know, See, Desire etc.):

TCMATK God is intimately involved in the lives of His people and always only a prayer away.

Application (not yes or no question.  Meant to bring about heart change):

1.How may your godly influence and encouragement deepen someone else’s relationship with God?

2.What gets in the way of you expressing praise and thanks to God?

3.What areas of your life require repentance and restoration for partial obedience (aka disobedience)?

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
