Divisions (run-on sentence OK, direct verbiage from Scripture/Principles are Aims for each Division):
1.David is anointed king of Israel and takes Jerusalem.(5:1-16)
Principle:  God prepares works for His people to do and empowers them to accomplish those works.
2.David inquires of the Lord and defeats the Philistines – twice.(5:17-25)
Principle:  God answers His people, bringing blessing and victory, when we inquire of Him.
3.David brings the ark of God to the City of David and celebrates before the Lord.(6:1-23)
Principle:  God delights in His people when we celebrate Him with all our might.

Subject Sentence (10-word sentence with proper structure showing exactly where you are in Scripture):
King David takes Jerusalem, defeats Philistines and relocates the ark.

Aim (“To Cause My Audience To…” Know, See, Desire etc.):
TCMATK God has great plans for every life.  His people need to seek His direction and praise Him on the journey.

Application (not yes or no question.  Meant to bring about heart change):
1.Where are you resisting God’s anointing over your life and how will you seek God’s help to be more obedient to what He is asking you to do?
2.What inquiries have you made of the Lord and how are His answers challenging you to serve Him?
3.What does it look like for you to celebrate and rejoice before the Lord with all your might?  And who may hold you in honor because of it?

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a...
