The 7 Experiment by Jen Hatmaker – Week 9

Wrap Up

This final week’s group meeting…

In accordance with the battle plan I developed as a result of participating in this study, I am meeting with God first thing every day.  And I’m trying to make a habit of saying, “Good Morning,” and telling Him I love Him before I even get out of bed.  If something comes between our time together, I get with Him ASAP and the latest we touch base is on the way to work in the car at 6:30ish AM.

I am more conscious of the armor of God even when I don’t put it on first thing in the morning.  I am praying more for God’s protection in this respect.  In fact, I’m in a season of praying more about lots of stuff.  I’m praying about little things, big things, praying instead of listening to Air-1 or my choir music.  Just saying “Jesus” when I don’t know what else to say…  I’m getting better about praying for God’s will to be done in every situation since that is always the best outcome in any circumstance!

I am searching the Scriptures daily.  I’m finding that I want to be in His Word because I want to hear His voice.  Hallelujah!  I’m dialing back and unplugging a bit, using technology minimally, spending more time in the garden and with my family, planning a more deliberate Christian life.

Thank you for joining me for Jen Hatmaker’s study “The 7 Experiment”.  I pray that you have been liberated of at least some of the obstacles that keep you at a distance from Jesus.  Please join us next week as we begin Priscilla Shirer’s study “One in a Million”.

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
