8:3-15 – plague #2 – plague of frogs in the Nile. God defeats Heget, the frog goddess. (Kuk)
8:7 – Why would the magicians create more frogs?
8:10 – why would Pharaoh wait until tomorrow to have Moses pray to remove the frogs?
8:16-9:12 – The Lord’s defeat of Egypt’s land gods.
8:16-19 – plague #3 – plague of gnats from dust. God defeats insect gods and earth gods. Geb, the earth god.
8:20-32 – plague #4 – plague of flies. God defeats insect gods. Khepry, the beetle god.
8:22 – God singles out Israel so they are not touched by this plague.
8:26 – the sacrifices of the Israelites would have been detestable to the Egyptians because they would be sacrificing animals that the Egyptians worshiped!
