Once Upon A Dream

… my favorite song and scene from Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty”. And the pink dress was my favorite! But the dreams we have today are a far cry from dancing around a forest with colorful (and tame) wild animals who have stolen a prince’s clothes, leading him straight to us and our happily ever after. Aren’t they?

Yet I wonder how many believers out there are spoken to by God in dreams? Please leave a comment on this post to share your story.

The Lord has used dreams to speak to me before, and I wonder if my most recent vision is a form of unconscious communication. On Sunday night (Feb. 8, 2009), I dreamed that I was in a hospital surrounded by people. I believe some of these individuals were doctors or nurses because they kept telling me to “push”. My response was that I didn’t feel the need to push, yet. Then I woke up. Weird!

Since I’m not pregnant, nor do I plan to be, I wonder if my dream is a message telling me that the time of spiritual birth pains has not yet come. Then I read the news, and wonder how that can be true. We must be close to the end times and the second coming of Christ considering all that is happening in the world, today. Well, we certainly are closer than we were when I awoke from this dream, or yesterday, or even closer than when you began reading this. Still, I must admit that my Great Grandmother was also convinced that the church would be raptured in her lifetime! That did not come to pass, but she lived her life the right way: expecting that God would show up - everyday. And show up He did - everyday of her life and mine, and yours, Im guessing.

He still does! I think that we simply get so preoccupied with daily life that we’re not looking for Him. So, when He does show up, we miss His appearance completely. And one day, that trumpet WILL sound and we will all be transformed in the twinkling of an eye as we appear at His side ready for battle like in a Chronicles of Narnia film, ONLY BETTER!!!! If you’re anything like me, you don’t want to miss the second coming. What are you doing to prepare yourself for Christ’s return? Feel free to leave a comment about that, too. :)

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
