A Review of Sandra Byrd's "Let Them Eat Cake"

Sandra Byrd’s “Let Them Eat Cake” is such a charming novel. Alexandra isn’t living her dream. She went to college, got her degree in French, and graduated without that wonderful career. In fact, she’s just been fired from her job translating nutrition labels. But she can’t tell her family and disappoint her parents AGAIN! In addition, her parents are moving in six months, and she can’t come along. Will Alex be able to stand on her own two feet before it’s too late?

This touching novel left me uplifted. I can’t wait to try the recipes that are included in the text! I was a bit disappointed that the romantic aspects didn’t develop further, but that’s how life is, isn’t it? So, needless to say, I can’t wait for a sequel!!! I loved the warming touch that the images and notes sprinkled throughout the text seemed to provide, offering greater believability. I was completely thrilled with how all of Alex’s loose ends were tied up. God works that way so often. It’s nice to be reminded in my fictional reading that He operates this way. This was a wonderful book – cover to cover.

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics . By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons. I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations. The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying. BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures. I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended. Armor of God – Week One – Sizing Up The Enemy

Welcome to Boot Camp! For the next seven weeks we will be training with our weapons (God’s Word and prayer) in preparation for the battle of our lives and the lives of others! And we will be learning how to equip ourselves with the Armor of God. Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God Bible study is a MUST-DO for EVERY BIBLE STUDENT!
