Today's Daily Devotional

Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens. Praise Him for His acts of power; praise Him for His surpassing greatness. Psalm 150:1-2

04/08/09 Today was a difficult day to start praising. I walk outside this morning to find one of my car’s tires nearly flat. That was going to make me late for work. Nausea set in. My husband was going to send me to work driving on a tire inflated with a can of fix-a-flat! I think not. I learned from a co-worker about a week ago that he had a flat tire on his truck, so he took it straight to the shop to have it fixed. What a novel idea. So, I took my novel and drove to Pep Boys and waited for them to open at 8AM. I was in and fixed and out the door before 9. Sure, I was two hours late to work. But I have vacation to cover it. Praise the Lord. For that matter, I HAVE A JOB!!!!! Praise the Lord. Besides, I learned that the car is in dire need of an alignment that won’t cost me very much and can save me lots. God is so good! Praise Him!

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics . By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons. I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations. The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying. BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures. I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended. I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process! So keep practicing. Keep sharing and discussing. Armor of God – Week One – Sizing Up The Enemy

Welcome to Boot Camp! For the next seven weeks we will be training with our weapons (God’s Word and prayer) in preparation for the battle of our lives and the lives of others! And we will be learning how to equip ourselves with the Armor of God. Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God Bible study is a MUST-DO for EVERY BIBLE STUDENT! I don’t mean to shout, but I can’t emphasize this enough!!! We are at war boys and girls. And our enemy wants to keep us in the dark about that fact. If he can convince us that he does not exist or that our God is not good or that we are not loved and treasured by the King and Creator of the Universe, he wins the battle.
