Praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted; His splendor is above the earth and the heavens. Psalm 148:13
06/12/09 The name Jehovah-Nissi became more real to me several months ago when the Lord delivered me from a 13-month season of unemployment by bringing me an amazing opportunity. Jehovah-Nissi means “the Lord is my Banner”. And it was significant to me for a couple of reasons. First, when I received my job offer, I was studying the passage of scripture where this name is used for God. It appears in Exodus 17 where Joshua is leading the battle against the Amalekites and Israel is winning while Moses’ arms are raised, and they’re losing while his arms are lowered. So, Moses sits while Aaron and Hur hold his arms up. The banner spoken of is a battle standard, God’s “colors”. We are victorious under His flag. He is our banner. We are victorious under Him, Jehovah-Nissi!
