Why You Really Can Memorize Scripture by Dr. Daniel Morris

Understand and unlock your mind's natural ability to memorize long passages   Called to be a missionary as a teenager, I had a great desire to fulfill God's will, but had a great sense of inadequacy for such an extraordinary purpose.  But God says he who meditates in His Word ... shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper (Psalm 1:3). This verse was and still is a great source of encouragement. Part of meditation is to memorize God's Word, so I began a systematic method of memorizing consecutive passages of scripture.  Through the years I learned, both by study and by experience, how God made our memory function.  Presently, I have 42 chapters memorized and, best of all, our missionary work has prospered beyond what I could have imagined. This book describes what I learned about permanently memorizing scripture and will help you be one of t

The Book of Revelation by Chuck Missler – Hour 19 – Revelation 14

Chapter 14 is the final part of the break between the sixth and seventh trumpets.   The Lamb stands on Mount Zion with the 144,000 Jews – Chuck calls them the 144,000 commandos!   Chuck suggests that heaven isn’t as far away as we imagine – that it may be another dimension of our present existence.   Is it just me?   Or does that sound like Frank Piretti’s “This Present Darkness”? Anyway, back to Zion.   This is apparently where Jesus will be placed on the throne of David.   This is one prophecy that has yet to be fulfilled.   And it will be fulfilled when Jesus reigns during the millennium.   We’ll talk about that more in a couple weeks. The Warrior-King that the Jews expected when Christ first came is the Ruler Who will come for us.   And when He returns with His army, those of us who are part of His body will return with Him.   Ooh, I’ve got chills!   I cannot wait. Homework for next time:   Read chapters 15 & 16.

A Bouquet of Love by Janice Thompson

She didn't expect to fall in love--but roses aren't the only thing blooming on Galveston Island Cassia Pappas has found herself in a nearly impossible situation. She wants to spend her time immersed in her new job at a Galveston Island floral shop, arranging blooms and brightening occasions with her lovely creations. But her boisterous Greek family--especially her father--has other ideas. They've all relocated to Galveston to open up a new family restaurant located on the Strand--directly across the street from iconic pizza place Parma John's--and they want Cassia's full participation. To make matters worse, as Cassia is trying to develop a strong professional relationship with Galveston's premier wedding coordinator, Bella Neeley, her own father is intent on stealing all of the Rossi family's faithful customers. Not exactly the best way to get into this former Rossi's good graces! Still, at least Alex, that hot delivery guy from the nursery, is alw

The Book of Revelation by Chuck Missler – Hour 18 – Revelation 13

Chapter 13 is also part of the break between the sixth and seventh trumpets.   This chapter features the Beast out of the Sea and the Beast out of the Earth.   These two figures represent the pseudo-Christ (Dr. Missler says this is a more accurate title than anti-Christ) and the false prophet. The pseudo-Christ is believed to be an Assyrian.   He’s got a boastful mouth and will make war with and overcome the believing Gentiles living at this time.   One fascinating thing that Chuck mentions repeatedly throughout the study is that the return of Christ is imminent, and since Satan doesn’t know when the rapture is going to happen, but he knows that when the rapture does happen he will have a very limited time to wreak havoc on the earth and mankind, there must always be a person at the ready to become the pseudo-Christ.   I never thought about this but it makes complete sense. The false prophet is thought to be Jewish because of the references to the beast coming out of the eart

In Perfect Time by Sarah Sundin

Two hearts are about to learn the rhythm of love Bold, sophisticated, and coy, Army Air Force flight nurse Lt. Kay Jobson collects hearts wherever she flies, leaving men pining in airfields all across Europe. So how can ruggedly handsome C-47 pilot Lt. Roger Cooper be all but immune to her considerable charms? In fact, he seems to do everything he can to avoid her. Still, as they cross the skies between Italy and southern France, evacuating the wounded and delivering paratroopers and supplies, every beat of their hearts draws them closer. Can they overcome the fears and misunderstandings of the past in order to take hold of the future? Sarah Sundin seamlessly weaves together emotion, action, and sweet romance into a tale that transcends time and calls us to believe in the power of love. Here's my review of this wonderful book: First, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Sarah Sundin and her publisher for sending me a copy of "In Perfect Time" to

The Book of Revelation by Chuck Missler – Hour 17 – Revelation 12

Chapter 12 is another part of the break between the sixth and seventh trumpets.   This chapter is a graphic history of Israel, represented by the woman in the chapter.   That makes the man-child Jesus Christ.   And the red dragon has been trying to destroy Him since the beginning of time.   Chuck goes through a powerful list of strategies that Satan has used in an attempt to eliminate Messiah. My favorite part of the teaching in this session included Dr. Missler’s thoughts about a ticking counter in heaven that advances each time someone makes a decision for Christ.   Satan doesn’t know what number on the counter will represent the fullness of the time of the Gentiles to signal our Heavenly Father to send Christ back to gather His people, so each time the counter advances, Satan flinches.   Chuck says Satan’s been in shock treatment for 1900 years!   I love that! Chuck also made our group laugh when he said that no one should wait to make a decision for Christ and that someon

The Book of Revelation by Chuck Missler – Hour 16 – Revelation 10-11

Chapters 10 and 11 are part of the break between the sixth and seventh trumpets.   The seventh trumpet ushers in the Bowls of Wrath.   In chapter 10, we discuss the “Little Book” and the Seven Thunders.   In chapter 11, we look at the Temple and the Two Witnesses. The Seven Thunders spoke, and John was about to write down what they said, but was forbidden.   So, why make a reference to the fact that the Seven Thunders spoke, but not record what they said?   This is the only sealed thing in this unsealed book.   The point is that no doctrine can be built upon the “Canon” being complete until the words of the Seven Thunders are recorded. The delay of judgment is coming to an end.   Time is up for lost sinners to repent. Take the time to do a study on the tabernacle and the temple.   They are fascinating.   If you have an opportunity to tour “Messiah’s Mansion”, I would recommend that as well.   Chuck’s teaching on this topic was fascinating as well.   Check it out.
