Shout for joy, O heavens; rejoice, O earth; burst into song, O mountains! For the Lord comforts His people. Isaiah 49:13
05/11/09 Have you ever been so overwhelmingly happy that you just had to shout? I remember a commercial that used to be on television. If I remember correctly, it was for jewelry. This man is presenting his wife a beautiful ring in a public square, and she is overcome with embarrassment when he begins to yell at the top of his lungs, “I LOVE THIS WOMAN!” That’s the emotion that this verse conveys. The Hebrew word for ”shout” implies that the shouter is so overcome with joy that a ringing cry ABSOLUTELY MUST be given. WOW! I wonder if this is what Jesus meant when He was entering Jerusalem on a donkey and the people were yelling, “Hosanna!” The Pharisees told Jesus to quiet the crowds and Christ told them that if the people were silent, the stones would begin to cry out!
