Serve one another in love. The entire law is summed up in one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:13-14
06/19/09 Serve one another in love. That is a powerful statement. We discussed serving last time. Who is “one another”? Everyone? Other Christians? When I read the word “neighbor”, I was reminded of the story Jesus told about the good Samaritan. Samaritans were considered half-breeds and Jews wouldn’t associate with them. But, if you recall Jesus’ story, the Samaritan man – an outcast – was the only one who stopped to help the man on the side of the road who was beaten. A few other statements come to mind: Christians will be identifiable by their love for each other; we are supposed to love our enemies and do good to those who persecute us. Serve everyone – especially Christian brothers and sisters – and honor the Lord by treating His kids – and prospective kids – well.
