Today's Daily Devotional


“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9


06/01/09 No ear has heard what God has planned for those who love Him. The ear is used metaphorically in this verse to describe mental perception, understanding and knowing. But there are some really cool sounds to be anticipated. Namely, the trumpet blast and shout that will announce the arrival of Christ to collect His bride, the church. I wonder if everyone will hear these sounds, but only those who belong to Christ will understand what they are. Perhaps believers won’t have time to process what is happening before we are whisked into the clouds to meet Jesus face-to-face. Maybe only Christians will hear the trumpet and the shout. Regardless, these sounds will be unlike any others. We have never heard this type of trumpet or this shout. But I cannot wait to hear it!

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves.
