Bible Study: As It Was In The Beginning - Genesis - Chapter 5

Please forgive this rough draft format, as these are my raw study notes on the book of Genesis. I felt a great sense of urgency to publish them rather than waiting until I had the time to pretty them up. Thank you and I pray that God blesses you through this material.

Take a few minutes to savor Genesis Chapter 5. Then return here and ponder the thoughts, answer the questions, and be sure to leave comments about your own revelations…

5:1 – God created man in His image. Of course, He did! Just as Adam’s sons were born “…in his own likeness, in his own image …” (5:3), God’s Son would be born in His own likeness, in His own image!

God has always desired fellowship with us! That is why He created us. After all, He already enjoyed the company of Jesus and the Holy Spirit before the creation of the world! He wouldn’t have made man in He didn’t want man – He already had everything!

So, we were made in His image so that we would truly be able to know Him… So that we would accept Him in the form of His Son! So, what are we waiting for?

5:5-28 – Adam died 57 years before Noah was born.

5:21 – see Hebrews 11:5

5:32 – Shem wasn’t the oldest? Middle? See Genesis 10:21 (Great Characters of the Bible)

What attributes of God have you observed in your study today? How will this change your relationship with Him?
