Give thanks to the God of gods. Give thanks to the Lord of lords. Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever. Psalm 136:2-3, 26
06/01/09 The Hebrew word for “Lord (of) lords” is adown. It’s where the title Adonai comes from. It identifies God’s characteristics of firmness, strength, and being Lord and Master of all things! In other words, this term shows God’s right to be thanked by us. As Lord and Master, He owns all things. He plans all things. He orchestrates all things. He allows all things. He deserves all of our thanks and praise. For all He has given and done and spared us from, we should have nothing but thanks on our hearts and minds and lips when we approach Him. Sometimes it’s difficult to do because we can’t see beyond our painful circumstances. If you’re in such a place right now, run to Him and weep in His arms. He is ready to embrace you, and then you’ll have something to be thankful for.
