Serve one another in love. The entire law is summed up in one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:13-14
06/22/09 What is the command that sums up the entire law? Love your neighbor as yourself. It sounds simple, doesn’t it? But if you’ve ever tried to do it, you know that it’s humanly impossible. Christ is the only human being who was ever able to live up to this command. I have struggled with this love thing for a very long time. I find it especially difficult to love my enemies. I can more easily extend grace to those about whom I read in the newspaper who have committed horrible acts, but to forgive someone who’s injured me personally? Now that ‘s a different story. I can only do this through Christ who gives me strength. By saying that we are to love our neighbors as ourselves, we are saying that we should treat others as we want to be treated. And remember that the grace we give is the grace we’ll get.
