Guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23
06/17/09 I think that this verse may mean more to desert-dwellers than it does to those who live in more lush climates. Water is absolutely essential to all life whether human, animal or plant. But to those who live in the desert, water is truly precious because it is not in abundance. I have lived in the lush green of upstate New York where there was a season of rain. My family would visit a spring near my Grandparents’ house to get fresh, cold water on hot summer days. It was delicious. I have also lived in the brown, sandy desert of Las Vegas, Nevada, where even an unappealing, hot bottle of water quenched my thirst in 100+ degree heat. I appreciated the water in both climates, but felt the desperation for it more in the desert. Are you desperate for the living water that Jesus offers?
