“Everything is possible for him who believes.” Mark 9:23
05/01/09 Let’s take another step back. A few steps, actually. Let’s start at Mark 9:2. Jesus, Peter, James and John have just come down the mountain following the transfiguration. The three disciples saw Moses and Elijah and heard the voice of God. They received instruction from Jesus not to mention the event until after he rose from the dead. This began a new discussion of what He might mean by that, and the conversation turned to what the scribes say about Elijah. When they approached the rest of the disciples, there was a large crowd and some scribes were arguing among them. When the crowd saw Jesus, they ran to Him and Christ asked what they were discussing. This is when the father spoke about his demon-possessed son. Don’t you just love God’s segues? How He engages us? What a context for this verse!
