Come near to God and He will come near to you. James 4:8

06/12/09 The King of the Universe wants to be near me. At times, that’s difficult for me to grasp. He wants to be near you, too. Can you fathom that? I’d have you close your eyes and imagine, but it would be difficult for you to read what it is your supposed to be imagining. So, read first, and then close your eyes if you like. Have you ever had an audience with a king? Not many of us have. But there is a lot of security and ceremony and protocol involved in meeting a dignitary. Our King is more easily approachable than that. And He is more important. He is the King who all the other kings and queens and presidents, etcetera will need to bow down to. Our King of the Universe puts us on the same level with an earthly king. WOW! Think about that for a few minutes.

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics . By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons. I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations. The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying. BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures. I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended. I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process! So keep practicing. Keep sharing and discussing.
