Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10

05/11/09 Steadfast is a wonderful word! It means to be firm, stable, established. It inspires confidence. It offers security. It implies a solid foundation, an unwavering commitment. Steadfast is recognized and reputable. This is the type of spirit God renews in us. When His Holy Spirit inhabits us, He begins to mold us into the likeness of Jesus (and the Father and Himself) – firm, stable, established, secure, solid, unwavering, recognized, reputable! That’s quite a tall order. But one He can certainly accomplish if we allow Him to do it. Unfortunately, we can undermine His efforts by not giving Him control to change us. We can resist His teaching and leadership until we can no longer hear His voice. To avoid this, act when God speaks. Obey. Let Him renew a steadfast spirit within you!

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics . By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons. I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations. The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying. BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures. I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended. I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process! So keep practicing. Keep sharing and discussing. Armor of God – Week One – Sizing Up The Enemy

Welcome to Boot Camp! For the next seven weeks we will be training with our weapons (God’s Word and prayer) in preparation for the battle of our lives and the lives of others! And we will be learning how to equip ourselves with the Armor of God. Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God Bible study is a MUST-DO for EVERY BIBLE STUDENT! I don’t mean to shout, but I can’t emphasize this enough!!! We are at war boys and girls. And our enemy wants to keep us in the dark about that fact. If he can convince us that he does not exist or that our God is not good or that we are not loved and treasured by the King and Creator of the Universe, he wins the battle. But can I share something with you? OUR ENEMY HAS ALREADY LOST THE WAR!!!!! His time is short and he is grasping at anything we leave dangling in an attempt to drag us down.
