“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
05/15/09 If you were one of the disciples, would you have been afraid? Would you have been timid and fearful? Or would you have been comforted by Jesus’ promise to give you His peace? Personally, I think I would have been so emotionally raw at this point that I would be more comforted by the fact that He was speaking rather than by His words. I don’t know that I would have even really registered what He was trying to say. But, since Jesus’ words were recorded for us, it would seem that John was a bit more lucid than I would have been. And he and his brother were the really passionate, emotional disciples! I must confess that there are still days when I am afraid, but I am maturing in my relationship with God, and I trust Him to bring me through the unknown. Why? Because He has done it before.
