Day Sixteen – The Love Dare: One Wife’s Journey

Back in October 2008... The scripture verse that touched me in particular today is –

Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. 3 John 2

I pray for my husband, Lord. I ask that You would give him a hunger for You and Your Word. That any lies in his heart and his mind would be replaced with Your truth. That You would give him health and miraculously remove smoking and sleeplessness from him so that he may serve You better – or show him how the things You are allowing in his life are there to serve You.

Love intercedes…

I frequently fail in this area. The easiest thing to do – pray – is often the first thing forgotten or cast aside. I pray that the Lord will change this about me.

That was then, this is now...

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7

Praying for your mate is a must! The scripture above offers some inspiration to do so. The key is to pray for what’s best for your spouse rather than what you want for yourself. Since we can be a bit biased in this area, I often revert to clichéd prayers asking God to do His will in my man’s life. I think we also need to pray that the Holy Spirit would speak to us about how we should be praying for our spouses.

Lord, teach me to pray for my husband. I don’t always know how to intercede especially when I have a personal interest in the outcome of his behavior. When I pray for him, filter my words as they approach Your ears so that my prayer is aligned with Your will. Better still, put the filter before my mind and my heart so that I think and feel as You do. In Christ’s name. Amen.

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
